Bio-Coat

After trying out various bioplastic recipes and substrates, the combination of hemp fibers with a glycerin-based bioplastic and the addition of beetroot juice intrigued me so much in terms of color and texture that I decided to sew a coat out of it. Despite the fact that the coat is not functional, as it would slowly dissolve on contact with water, it poses some interesting questions. It stimulates the discussion on how we can integrate biocomposable materials into our everyday life, especially in fashion, and what it means to produce with completely natural materials. It is not only good for our environment, but also requires us to step out of our comfort zone and ask ourselves: How do we need to adapt to the future? And what are we willing to change for it?
